Interview

with Kyleigh Kühn

The Next model and philanthropist shares with us her her tips to de-stress, her favorite beauty products and places she loves in California.

Next model and philanthropist Kyleigh Kühn shares the unique way she stays fit (hint: it involves a boat).
She also dishes on her favorite west coast restaurants and places to shop.

What is your morning routine?

I just wash my face with warm water and use a light toner and moisturizer.

What are your five go-to products?

Shiseido Toner, Waleda Rose Pampering Body Lotion, NARS lip pencil in in Velvet Matte, Laura Mercier concealer, Lucas’ Paw Paw Ointment.

What do you do regularly to de-stress?

I’m bicoastal and living in California at the moment, so I run in the state park nearby my house or work on my boat in Sausalito.
I find that doing physical labor really helps to de-stress… it focuses you on what needs to be done in the present moment and reminds you how capable you are at solving problems.
It’s my favorite version of meditation and exercise wrapped into one.

What is your beauty mantra?

Do whatever you feel like.

What do you do to stay in shape?

I keep myself busy with projects. I’m remodeling a houseboat right now with my boyfriend, Ryan.
It definitely has been more than enough of a workout for us so far.

Where is your favorite place to shop?

I love to shop at Aubergine Vintage Emporium in Sebastopol. I most recently drove up there with my little brother and scored tons of Letterman jackets, fur coats, and overalls. It’s the Mecca of vintage shopping.

Do you have a favorite healthy food place?

Sol Food in Marin County. I’m not sure how healthy it is, but eating delicious food is definitely healthy for the soul!

What are your favorite restaurants in California?

My favorite restaurant ever is the Pelican Inn. I have been obsessed with this place ever since I was a child.
It is an Old English tavern and inn nestled next to Muir Beach.
It captures such a magical and authentic charm—every detail transports you to the old-world.
It’s the perfect place to settle into on a rainy winter day and play darts or sit in their fireplace-room to sip wine and eat Shepherd’s pie.

Is there a unique store on the west coast that you recommend?

My favorite store in San Francisco is the General Store in Sunset. It’s full of special pieces that all feel like there is an extra element of care and authenticity in their production.
Right next-door is the famed Trouble Coffee Co.—a place where they only sell coffee, fresh coconuts and cinnamon toast.
Across the way is Mollusk Surf Shop that features amazing fiberglass mini living structures made by Jay Nelson.
After working so much with fiberglass on the boat, I’ve developed a huge appreciation for his work.

What are some of your favorite things to do in California?

Ryan and I spend the whole day working on our houseboat and then head over to Bar Bocce for some wine and pizza to relax.
It’s great because we can literally sit at their tables outside and see our boat!
