9 Items To Have In Tow When You’re Jet-setting
The perfect Business Women Traveling Essentials.
Travelling for work comes with many perks, among the best are experiencing new cultures, and becoming a packing pro in the process. Between jumping back and forth from L.A. to New York, and jet-setting to more tropical destinations like Bali, and Anguilla, I have picked up a few packing pointers. For instance, keeping a second cosmetics bag ready-to-go with all of your daily—TSA-friendly—must-haves, a no-brainer, right? Or stashing snacks in your carry-on so you’re not limited to what’s available at the airport. After all, we put so much thought into packing our clothes, why not do the same with our meals? (But, in case you forget, this story on where to eat healthy from HKG to LAX has you covered). Note to self: Print this list, and pack your passport pronto!
1. Leather Zipper Pouch and Passport Holder by Cuyana
Many of us have learned this lesson the hard way: Pack your passport first, and while you’re at it, make sure it’s not expired! Better yet, keep your passport or ID, and iPhone in a flat pouch that you can drop into your handbag and easily access. Cuyana makes beautiful and long lasting leather pouches in an array of hues, as well as passport holders, which can be monogrammed in gold leaf foil on the spot at their stores in San Francisco, Venice, and a pop-up store in New York this fall.
2. Steamline Luggage’s The Diplomat in Cream
Steamline Luggage is coveted by everyone, from globetrotting Instagram influencers like Julia Engel and Jenny Cipoletti, to celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara. Of the stunning vintage-inspired design, founder Sara Banks says, “We have always loved the ease of a carry-on, and our Steamline cases are a timeless style, drawing you back to the days when people dressed their best to adventure away from home.” And while their carry-on only has two wheels to preserve said style, the line includes a larger four-wheel spinner.
I love Away carry-ons. Not only does it feature meticulous design, quality, and even built-in phone charger, but because of its direct consumer model.
For a carry-on that offers the four-wheel mobility necessary for catching a connecting flight, I love Away. “Not only does it feature meticulous design, quality, and even built-in phone charger, but because of its direct consumer model”, explains co-founder Jen Rubio, the luggage is also affordable. 3. Lush Gourmet Foods
I am obsessed with Lush Gourmet nuts, and cannot get enough of their most popular flavor, the Coconut Lavender almonds. “They are the ideal travel companion, especially the minis,” says founder Bisera Urdarevik, “They fit perfectly in your handbag or luggage, and give you a delicious boost of energy when time-zone hopping. Not to mention they’re vegan, gluten and soy-free, and 100 percent natural unlike most of the snacks you find at the airport!” More here.
4. The Career Code, Book
In addition to career advice, Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power’s book offers sound life-hacks like “come back from vacation a day early,” and “make travel easier with TSA Pre-check and Global Entry.” I couldn’t agree more, and love how motivating and re-readable their guide is.
5. Son & Park Beauty Water
A TSA-friendly-size of this toning and cleansing water is one of the products that don’t leave our travel toiletries bag. It’s perfect for wiping away makeup and toning skin. Charlotte Cho, the co-founder of Soko Glam and EIC of The Klog, says it’s her holy grail cleansing water and toner. “It’s a true multi-tasker so I use it twice a day, everyday. It removes even the toughest waterproof makeup, while its papaya extracts keep my skin hydrated and lightly exfoliated. Just douse a cotton pad with the Beauty Water and swipe over your skin after cleansing.”
6. Pam & Gela Moto Jacket
Designers Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy have created a comfortable clothing line that looks and feels luxe. I love packing a lightweight jacket like this one when traveling; it practically takes up zero space, and makes the perfect airport uniform. Not to mention it’s versatile, and can be worn day-to-night, and on-and-off the tarmac.
7. Jiffy Handheld Steamer
This industry-favored brand makes a powerful handheld device that lives in my carry-on. Jiffy also sells a travel kit version with a voltage converter, and four different adapter plugs. PS it’s also great for small spaces like NYC apartments.
8. Sedu Revolution Styling Iron
Another essential item that I keep in my suitcase is Sedu’s one-inch styling iron. It’s one of my favorite irons for styling. The ceramic, ionic technology plates can be adjusted for heat ranging from 140 to 450 degrees.
9. The Sabah Traveler
It was only a matter of time before Mickey Ashmore, founder of Sabah, created a weekender bag. After all, Sabah shoes are sold around the world. Of The Sabah Traveler, Ashmore says, “it is made-to-last and made for many situations. It’s perfect for a day, a weekend or even a longer trip. It’s made entirely of leather with minimal seams and will age beautifully with time and travel.” The bag is designed in one natural leather color, and is available for purchase from the Sabah House in NYC or by email/phone order.
