Interview

With Jessica Hart

We wanted to learn more about this supermodel and beauty expert, so we chatted with Jessica about her mission, her everyday life and where she wants to take her new company.

Jessica Hart has had a successful modeling career, so she knows a thing or two about beauty. Because she’s had a lifetime of exposure to the most lux of makeup brands, it says a lot that she decided to launch a completely all-natural, minimalist makeup company: LUMA. Just as her ingredients go organic, LUMA only offers products that will merely enhance the beauty that women have, naturally. You’ll notice that her products don’t include flashy eye shadow and purple lipstick; her approach is subtle, organic, and innovative.

We wanted to learn more about this supermodel and beauty expert, so we chatted with Jessica about her mission, her everyday life and where she wants to take her new company.

We created a tight range of 30 essentials from Paraben-free Bronzers to Mascaras with no artificial oils, and lipsticks infused with pomegranate and primrose oils.

BWB: Tell us more about your natural line LUMA Cosmetics?

LUMA Cosmetics is all about enhancing your natural features, rather than covering them up. We created a tight range of 30 essentials from Paraben-free Bronzers to Mascaras with no artificial oils, and lipsticks infused with pomegranate and primrose oils.  We’ve managed to maintain all this and still ensure that range is sold at an attainable price point. There is not one product in the range that has not had my touch and 100% approval.

BWB: What inspired you to launch your own line?

I was inspired to start LUMA when I saw a huge gap in the market for affordable, naturally derived cosmetics. There wasn’t a brand out there that was really focused on its formulas and was proud to be free from harmful synthetic ingredients.

BWB: You also have a very successful career as a model, what is your wellness routine to stay healthy?

Exercise is really important, drinking plenty of water and eating as healthy as possible, and I always wear SPF during the day.

BWB: What beauty products can we always find in your bag?

My LUMA Nude Shimmer Sheer Lipstick, Dr Haushca Hand Cream, LUMA Illuminating Higlighter in Natural Pearl, Paul Frank and Co Spray Dust.

Determine whether you have more pink or yellow in your skin tone—it’s the best way to work out what shades suit your complexion.

BWB: What is the best makeup advice you have?

The best makeup tip I can give is determining whether you have more pink or yellow in your skin tone—it’s the best way to work out what shades suit your complexion. Something that suits everyone is Luminser. I love that there are so many different ways you can use it to highlight and contour your face. I apply it to my brow bones, cheekbones and Cupid’s bow. If you’re wearing a dress or top that allows it, it’s great on your collarbones and shoulders too.

BWB: Any other brands you like to use for skincare? or bodycare?

I love Nip Fab Deep Cleansing Fix Pads, Dr Haushka Facial Toner, SK- II Midday Miracle Essence and Klorane Dry Shampoo and Paul Frank and co DUST is the best hair product.

BWB: What are some of your favorite places in the city for beauty and wellness?

Georgia Louise for a facial! I love nail spas – they’re all pretty good to be honest – I’ll go anyone I’m near to! They’re quick and fast, so right on the NYC pace ;-)

Siggy’s is my favorite healthy restaurant but now I’ve moved up town I go less. I have yet to find a good one uptown that delivers too.

BWB: Any new projects in the making that you could share with our readers?

So many exciting things are happening for the brand, we are forever evolving! We will be launching new products early next year, we also plan on taking LUMA internationally and our small team is now expanding.
