KYBELLA
Lisa Williams is a nurse practitioner who has been providing cosmetic dermatology procedures for 14 years and is constantly training and researching non invasive procedures.
Among them is Kybella, a medicine used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin. The treatment consists of an injection of deoxycholic acid (which has been used for a long time in various fields of human medicine) below the chin, painless even though swelling occurs pretty much instantly.
The result is permanent so when you get your profile and jawline back, it’s for good!
You can expect severe swelling for up to three days, then the swelling will slowly disappear (a week or two depending on the treatment strength and your metabolism) but after this time, the excess fat below the chin dissolves and you get your profile back.
The result is permanent so when you get your profile and jawline back, it’s for good! As for the reason why Kybella has not totally replaced every other procedure aimed at fat reduction, there is only one reason: cost! It is an expensive product and rather new on the market. This is also the reason why it is used on rather small areas of the body. But in the future, its use might be extended to other areas of the body and its cost might also be reduced.
Why do you recommend Kybella and for what cases in particular?
Kybella is commonly used to diminish the submental fat also known as a double chin. The injections are an alternative to liposuction or surgery. It takes less than 5 minutes to treat someone, it is relatively painless with minimal downtime.
Do you think it is a good alternative for people who do not want
plastic surgery?
Yes, it most definitely works. It is FDA approved and one can expect to do 2 to 4 treatments spaced out every month to get the improvement they desire.
You have a very faithful and regular clientele. How do you explain this success?
I am an artist and my clients are my canvas. I, as well as my staff, love what we do and we want to help by providing a conservative non surgical and safe approach providing natural looking outcome.
Do you sometimes refuse to do some procedures?
Yes, if people have unrealistic expectations or are on particular medications which could cause side effects, or if they have psychological issues. I often decline to do lips enhancement if I think it would look unnatural for that person’s face. We also refuse to use some products unless there are enough clinical studies to support them.
