Kjaer Weis

We are in love with this organic make-up line encased in a stunning metal packaging.

Make-up artist and entrepreneur Kjaer Weis launched her organic make-up line encased in a stunning metal packaging, and we are in love.
In order to learn more about the person behind this wonderful new brand, we sat down with Kjaer and chatted about this brainchild of hers, make-up trends for the fall, and future projects.

BWB: What inspired you to take your work as a make-up artist a step further and start your own range?

I was inspired to start my own range after working for years as a makeup artist and seeing the negative effects of conventional make up. I wondered what the long-term effects of those products would be.
For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of owning my own company; when I noticed there was a demand in the market for organic but luxurious makeup, I started the process of researching and developing my own line.

BWB: What are some of the challenges of working with organic ingredients?

Working with organic ingredients is like being in the wine industry – the raw materials are all natural and they change form harvest to harvest. The biggest challenge is keeping the colors and textures consistent.

Beauty is being happy in your own skin and being at peace with who you are.

BWB: What is your idea of beauty?

I believe that beauty comes from within. It is really a quality derived from happiness, confidence and peace in who you are.

BWB: What would you consider a beauty faux-pas?

For me, to cover up the face with too much foundation or powder is a beauty faux-pas. It’s like unintentionally creating a mask.

Start with switching to a natural deodorant, body wash and lotion, as your skin is your biggest organ.

BWB: What advice can you give to our readers who would like to switch from conventional to organic cosmetics?

It is a step by step process to switch from conventional to organic cosmetics. I would start with switching to a natural deodorant, body wash and lotion, as your skin is your biggest organ. In terms of makeup, I would start with the lips, because you end up eating a lot of product. It is really a gradual switch, and I suggest getting to know a product to fall in love with it.

Start with lots of fresh green juices and an organic/natural facial oil.

BWB: What is your top professional make-up tip?

Master beautiful skin. It’s important to have a good canvas. So much goes into skin and I suggest a holistic approach, as everything is connected. Start with lots of fresh green juices and an organic/natural facial oil.

BWB: Which colors do you recommend for the Fall?

We will be releasing a new lip tint, cream blush and eye shadow for fall 2015, but I suggest copper and light brown to nude colors.

BWB: What products/make-up can we always find in your handbag?

You can always find a Kjaer Weis Cream Blush and the brand new Kjaer Weis Bronzer in Dazzling in my purse. They are both perfect for adding a summertime glow.
I also love Tata Harper Love Potion and carry that with me everywhere.

BWB: What is your Beauty and Wellness routine?

My beauty and wellness routine is centered around exercise, a clean diet, and plenty of sleep. I often try to do yoga and meditate, and love to start my day with a fresh green juice.

BWB: This is our special ‘Going Green’ issue (green living, green Eating). Any ‘green’ words of wisdom?

Everything you do on a smaller scale really makes a difference in the long run. This is true for yourself and for the planet.
