A Weekend with Nastya Swan

BWB spends the weekend with Russian model and influencer Nastya Swan, dreaming together of life after confinement.

Russian model and influencer Nastya Swan didn’t stumble upon modeling accidentally. As a child, she knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up — and she’s kept on that track ever since.

Where has her childhood dream taken her? Maybelline, Tommy Hilfiger, L’Oréal, Dolce & Gabbana and La Mer, to name a few. Nastya’s impressive portfolio is a prime result of her hard work, determination and persistence. Now, Nastya uses social platforms like Instagram and YouTube to inspire others to pursue their own dreams. With each post and upload, she spreads light and positivity in a world that depends on it.

Your next weekend destination when confinement is over?

I would be very happy to go see my family in Latvia. The pandemic has given me an even greater appreciation for my family because you never know when you’ll get to see them again. I would give everything to see all of my family together in one place. It happens very rarely and I really cherish those precious moments.

Morning beauty routine?

Every morning, I wash and moisturize my face. My skin is very sensitive, which is why I use only clean cosmetics. I start with a face wash from Tata Harper, then I apply Shiseido’s eye patches with retinol. Afterwards, I use an essential oil and a light cream on top by Dr. Barbara Sturm. Skincare is my passion!

Favorite homemade meal that you have mastered during quarantine?

I usually don’t cook, but quarantine has forced me to practice! Honestly, it’s such a beautiful & inspiring ritual that makes me feel very feminine. For example, I’ve mastered how to bake healthy cupcakes with berries. Also, I’ve learned how to make a tasty and easy side dish with eggplant covered in parmesan & mozzarella. I love the Italian vibes in the house.

Saturday ritual?

First, I get up early (around 6 or 7 a.m.) and meditate for 20-30 minutes to wake up my mind. Then, I’ll have a breakfast of two eggs and avocado toast with my favorite seasonings. The morning is incomplete without a cup of green tea while reading news from around the world. After breakfast, I do a quick, full-body workout to get those endorphins going. This really helps boost my mood! Finally, I work on creating content on my computer or FaceTime my family.

Sunday run or relax?

It really depends on the day. Sometimes, I love to plan a Sunday full of activities—especially outdoor activities! Other Sundays, I enjoy staying in and spending the day for myself – reading a lot and going deep inside myself to reflect on the life I am living. I’m an artist, so it’s very important for me to slow down and be alone once in a while.

Favorite personal protective mask?

Anything that gets the job done! I have repurposed so many old scarves into masks! Also, it already feels very normal to see everyone wearing masks, like it has always been like this. The human brain adapts very easily to new surroundings.

Handbag essentials?

I will never leave my apartment without my wallet, keys, phone, lip gloss, chewing gum, sunglasses, lucky pen, a little snack, and the book that I’m reading at the moment. Right now, it’s To Have Or To Be by Erich Fromm.

Ideal spots for weekend social gatherings post-confinement?

I love museums! We have some wonderful art in NYC – especially at MoMA and the MET. It’s another type of meditation for me. Central Park is great for enjoying nature inside of our concrete jungle. I also love starting my weekend by working out at the gym. I would to go anywhere that I can meet new people and gain new perspectives!
