Creative New Skincare Ingredients to Watch Out for
Keeping up with the latest trends in skin care can be daunting. Innovative brands seem to emerge almost daily, and veteran companies continue to launch new products touting the most up-to-date ingredients, with the promise of skin perfection. As a professional in the industry, I frequent seminars, attend shows, and read magazines just to stay on top of what cutting edge treatments and ingredients are on the horizon. After extensive research, four skin care companies have stood out to me because of the novel approaches they are take with ingredients that truly benefit our skin’s well being. B&WB would like to share these groundbreakers with you.
Astaxanthin, which is harvested from micro algae, has the highest anti-oxidant properties available, and it helps to maintain skin’s moisture, encourage cell renewal, and also absorb UV rays.
Ryz Rémi Organic Skincare
Founded by Dr. Natasha Ryz and her husband, David Remillard, in Vancouver, Canada. Ryz Rémi has brought healing secrets from the land and sea to modern skincare while remaining committed to ingredients that are organic, sustainably harvested and hand made. They boast many great ingredients, but two really stand out.
Pracaxi, oil pressed from the seeds of the Pracaxi Tree and native to South America, has one of the highest concentrations of behenic acid, which delivers fatty acids to our skin. It is commonly used in the Amazon for bacterial skin diseases, burns, and scars, confirming that we may certainly benefit from improved skin tone, elasticity and smoother fine lines.
Astaxanthin, which is harvested from micro algae, has the highest anti-oxidant properties available, and it helps to maintain skin’s moisture, encourage cell renewal, and also absorb UV rays.
Both of these miracle workers are in Ryz Rémi’s Nutrient-Rich Elixir, a facial oil that also features green tea, coenzyme Q10 and red algae.
Pine is present in all of their products, including the Elixir Gommage, which uses pine bark powder for its gentle exfoliating properties.
IXXI
The French skincare company that practices environmentally responsible green chemistry, has just made its debut in the United States with their patented featured ingredient, Pine Oil. With laboratories located in Landes Pine Forest in southwest France, their research has shown that pine oil extracted from the bark of pine trees has one of the highest concentrations of polyphenols. These polyphenols stimulate cell growth, maintain moisture, boost collagen, inhibit the breakdown of elastin fibers and strengthen the skin’s protective barrier, resulting in firmer, smoother, healthier skin.
One of my favorites, the Elixir Serum Aqua Essential uses two different types of pine bark extract. Other ingredients such as everlasting flower, evening primrose and even grass are also harvested within the pine forest. I predict IXXI will quickly become a favorite throughout the U.S., and possibly the rest of the world!
Lumicol, which comes from micro algae, lightens hyper-pigmentation while Epocyl, obtained from plankton, hydrates and retains moisture.
Babor
The German skincare brand and leading dermatological employer of natural ingredients has a new line called ReVersive. It features the Re-Youth Complex, made up of four new active ingredients that impress, entice, and deliver. The first ingredient, Telovitin, extends the life cycle of skin cells. Agicyl, extracted from the alpine plant, prevents the breakdown of collagen fibers. Lumicol, which comes from micro algae, lightens hyper-pigmentation while Epocyl, obtained from plankton, hydrates and retains moisture. Having the continued support of these ingredients in a serum, eye cream, night cream, and the Supreme Glow Day Cream helps to really leave your skin glowing. These ingredients are also ideal for sensitive skin.
After trying the eye mask for a few weeks, I definitely had smoother skin and also experienced a sounder sleep, making me a fan of copper peptides and sleep masks.
Iluminage
Iluminage is a high-tech luxury beauty brand that is showing the world an entirely new way to benefit from the powerhouse ingredient Copper peptide, a mineral found in our bloodstream which has direct links to regulating cell growth and skin proteins. Because our bodies have less copper as we age, replenishing it is anti-inflammatory, may improve elasticity, reduce wrinkles, and reverse photo damage. It has created an entirely new delivery system for copper with their Skin Rejuvenating Eye Mask, Pillowcase, Gloves and Socks that feature their patented copper oxide technology, which is embedded into 249 thread-count fabric. After trying the eye mask for a few weeks, I definitely had smoother skin and also experienced a sounder sleep, making me a fan of copper peptides and sleep masks.
