Café BWB: Place Your Bets with Ashley Haas

She’s a model. She’s an actress. And she’s an NFL sportscaster. Whole package? We think so. Though Ashley’s modeling portfolio includes impressive names like Donna Karan, Tom Ford and Victoria’s Secret, there’s no denying that her true passion lies in sports. You can see for yourself on her YouTube channel, which she runs entirely on her own – research, filming, editing. We met with the blonde stunner at our favorite Le Chalet, located at the chic L’Avenue in Saks Fifth Avenue for cappuccinos and cookies to talk about how she balances it all and still finds time to do things for herself.

YOUR DAY

Wake-up time?

I usually wake up around 9 a.m.

Morning beauty routine?

I make a cup of coffee to wake myself up and use a jade roller and SKII face wash to wake my skin up.

One activity you do every day without fail?

I wake up, check my emails, and turn on NFL network to hear football updates. It’s like watching the news, but for sports. I know, I’m such a tomboy.

YOUR ESSENTIALS

Your most overused phrase?

Probably my catchphrase on my football show.When I predict a team to cover the spread I say, “spread ‘em!” Lol it’s PG, I promise!

How do you unwind?

I like to unwind by lying in bed and watching terrible reality TV shows.

Guilty pleasures?

I am a cookie monster! I can never turn a warm chocolate chip cookie down! I have a sweet tooth.

YOUR THINKING

Strengths and weaknesses?

I’m a perfectionist, which is actually a weakness, because I tend to take longer and I overwork myself to achieve the best version of me. A strength would be my work ethic. I’m a very hard worker.

What can men learn from women?

Men can learn a lot from women, just like women can learn a lot from men.I feel like men should just watch Sex and the City and they will know what women really want! We all want to be treated like the queens we are!

One thing you would change about your profession?

I have two full-time jobs and both are very different from each other. I model and work in sports broadcasting. Through the years, I have seen an improvement, but there is still a long way to go for women to be equal as men in the sports world.

As for modeling and the fashion world, I long for the day when there won’t be a need to Photoshop. I’m guilty of it too, but we don’t have to send the message to young girls that you need to be super skinny and have not one blemish or wrinkle. Women aren’t perfect and that’s what makes us beautiful – our flaws.

YOUR LIFE

One meeting that changed your life?

Going to the Super Bowl last year. I met so many legendary football players and talented new players. It was in that moment that I realized this was what I was meant to do and where I was meant to be.

Biggest risk that has paid off?

Starting my football prediction show was the biggest risk. It was very hard to put myself out there in a different way but it has paid off greatly!

Proudest moment?

My proudest moment was when I graduated from college with honors. I worked really hard and even though I don’t use my degree, I am still very proud of my accomplishments and that I held a full-time job while going to class.
