New Techniques for Healthy Minds

Here are ways we can help maintain a stress-free and balanced lifestyle.

As we step into adulthood, we soon become aware of the baggage we carry around, little knots of discomfort that dwell within us from years past. These little seeds of suffering are not serious enough to require psychotherapy, pills or medical attention; however, they still bear weight on our everyday lives. They might manifest in stress eating, bouts of anger, chronic pain, or occasional anxiety. Once we are able to recognize the problem, though, we find ourselves looking for alternative healing methods that are less drastic than therapy. Fortunately, there are other ways we can help maintain a stress-free and balanced lifestyle.

Reiki can be helpful at any time to support happiness and well-being.

Reiki is spiritual practice founded in Japan that involves meditation delivered through light touch, calming and centering. Pamela Miles, a reknowned specialist in NYC, offered her advice. “Reiki can be helpful at any time to support happiness and well-being,” she says. “In general, even a single session can bring relief. Deeper healing requires repeated sessions.” She insists that finding a well trained, practicing Reiki practitioner is key. Pamela teaches self-Reiki and encourages people to practice on themselves daily to be happier and healthier.

Acupuncture can be helpful for a wide range of conditions, including the common cold, reproductive issues, emotional trauma, and musculoskeletal problems

Acupuncture is a technic used in traditional Chinese medicine that stimulates specific points on the body, often by inserting thin needles into the skin. Different approaches range in focus from musculoskeletal to internal conditions, including emotional or spiritual shifts. At AXIOM Holistic, Stephen Cohen covers it all. Stephen combines outstanding acupuncture skills with essential oils and supplements to help heal any discomfort. “Acupuncture can be helpful for a wide range of conditions, including the common cold, reproductive issues, emotional trauma, and musculoskeletal problems,” he says.

Meditation is an entirely self-directed practice. Though it requires commitment, mediation has shown to improve overall well being and even heal diseases by activating the power of your own body. There are different technics that have to be explored, including Thich Nhat Hanh’s walking meditation and mindfulness practice. His amazing books are the The Miracle of Mindfulness, and The Energy of Prayer. My own favorite form of meditation is called Transcendental Meditation, which can sign up for at tm.org.

There is lots of current research being published about the capabilities of pure essential oils. As long as they use high quality, environmentally conscious oils, patients can use them to boost their immune system, help regulate their hormones, deepen their sleep, improve their metabolism and more

Essential Oils take you one a sensory journey that soothes and balances body and mind. When exploring the oils, try to use only high quality therapeutic-grade oils such as Young Living or Doterra. Two experts in the field include Tonya, with whom you can connect at tonya@tonyadidomenico.com. You can also reach out to Stephen Cohen, who has offered us some of his advice. “People are looking for relatively easy ways to improve their health and educate themselves on how they can transform their medicine and supplement cabinet. Living in such a hectic and high-energy environment takes a toll on a person. I am grateful to be living in a city that offers alternative options to help us heal, evolve and find balance in our everyday lives. Consider trying these new methods for yourself. Who knows? They may help you, too.
