We’ve put together this Clémence von Mueffling interview to pick her brain regarding issues of beauty and style. She talks about her journey with beauty blogging, her favorite makeup and fashion items, her tips on style and beauty, and more – all down below!

1. When did you start blogging and why?

Both my mother and grandmother were beauty editors at French Vogue, so I was learning the ultimate beauty advice while still practicing my ABC’s! I started to work for large beauty companies, and the transition to becoming a beauty editor myself felt very natural. Recently, we just published a book, Ageless Beauty the French Way.

2. What are your favorite makeup products?

These days, I love It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye or Bobbi Brown as a concealer. For foundations I like By Terry makeup, a blush by Guerlain, and a Chantecaille black mascara.

3. What does it mean for you to be a stylish woman?

To me, it is a subtle mix of elegance, femininity, and staying true to your style.

4. What inspires you the most? Who are your top 3 most inspirational and stylish women?

I have always been a fan of Brigitte Bardot as an incredibly feminine and sexy actress. I also like Caroline de Maigret, who is so ‘Parisienne’!

5. Your favorite fashion accessory?

My bag is usually my most fashionable accessory. It can be as sophisticated as YSL, or more easy-to-wear as Sézane.

6. The best beauty advice you can share with our readers?

Don’t over scrub or exfoliate too much. It makes your skin worse in the long run. Why would you burn, dry, and peel, rather than nourishing and maintaining a healthy skin? You only have one face, and you should treat it with great care in the most delicate way you can.

I have a tried and true beauty ritual I teach in the book that will guarantee your skin to glow like it never has before: double cleanse your face. And the ritual doesn’t have to be a chore. Think of it as a relaxing nightly treat for yourself.

Think of treating the skin on your face as you would your favorite silk blouse. People underestimate the power of massage. You will be amazed how much you can improve the quality of your face by massaging it yourself regularly. It will tone the skin, improve circulation, and minimize lines. And, best of all, it’s free! In my book, Ageless Beauty the French Way (available on Amazon), I teach you how to do your own face massage at home.
