The Happy Traveler Kit

Having an enjoyable vacation starts with a relaxing flight. This summer, whether you are flying to a romantic spot in Europe or planning an exotic getaway, here are a few must-haves to carry with you on the plane.

______________

While amongst the germs of many a stranger, getting sleep when traveling will keep your immune system strong. Fight the roaring of a plane engine and crying babies with a sleep mask and ear plugs.

BWB’s choice? The Pure Silk Sleep Mask. Its soft texture prevents stretching and tugging on delicate facial skin.

To arrive at your destination with glowing skin, keep your face and hands hydrated. In a dry airplane environment, try to avoid wearing any makeup, keep your face clean, and apply a face oil.

We have two favorite oils for the summer. First, Botanics 100% Organic Nourishing Facial Oil is a precious serum that locks in moisture for hours. Infused with rosehip oil, which is rich in omegas and essential fatty acids, it’s a nourishing meal for the skin. Its nutrients will leave your skin looking radiant and smooth with a more even tone.

We also recommend True Moringa Body Oil for the face, hair, and body. True Moringa restores essential fatty acids and antioxidants to prevent damage and dryness, leaving you with healthy, supple skin.

On a plane, hand sanitizer and hand cream are no brainers. What we often forget to bring is a nail file. After handling heavy luggage that easily break nails, having this little tool will prevent you from enduring a painful tear throughout the whole flight.

Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream helps shield hands from the elements, minimizing signs of aging, strengthening nails, and conditioning cuticles. Its aloe vera softens, moisturizes and encourages healing; its shea butter soothes and smoothes; and its  coconut oil helps tone and protect. This summer’s novelty is Frederic Malle’s Iris hand cream by Olivia Giacobetti.

For trips that require over 4 hours of travel, a saline nasal spray, such as Simply Saline, helps hydrate and clean the nose.

For the legs, compression stockings maintain a good circulation, preventing red, puffy feet and ankles upon landing. Instead, arrive with a light step, ready to embark on your adventure.

Store a few sachets of your favorite herbal teas in your purse, just in case you grow tired of plain water. A nice filling, healthy snack is the organic oat-based Superfood Instant Cereal (which comes in delicious flavors such as a comforting Rosemary Thyme Sweet Potato and energy-boosting Banana Chia) from Vigilant Eats. Just add hot water to the mix and it is ready to eat!

Finally, as recommended by some of our contributors here at Beauty and Well-Being, oil of oregano has strong anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties to keep you healthy. And for the nervous travelers, try the Bach Flower Rescue Remedy, made with relaxing essences to calm the nerves before take off.
