40 Years of Authenticity: Biologique Recherche in New York City

Discover the legacy of science-based French skincare.

Biologique Recherche was founded in 1978 as cosmetics research lab by biologist Yvan Allouche and his wife Josette, a physiotherapist. At first, it functioned like a scientific development laboratory whose sole vocation was to develop formulations for professionals dissatisfied with existing products.

Biologique Recherche boasts locations all over the world, and has come to populate much of our very own Manhattan. Find their products in six locations on the Upper and Midtown east sides of the island. They’ve also sprinkled products in spas, studios, and stores even further downtown.

Since then, with their son Dr. Philippe Allouche as the brand’s Creative Director, BR has transformed into a pharmaceutical icon of the global fashion and beauty industries. Allouche’s background in internal medicine informed his more holistic approach to the science of beauty and skincare. Together, Yvan, Josette and Philippe combined their know-how and passion to write a unique and visionary page in the history of skin care.

Today, the Biologique Recherche Methodology has a reputation for astounding effectiveness based on a clinical approach to beauty care using intentionally pure, concentrated, raw ingredients, as well as innovative and meticulous protocols and procedures. Fashion icons across the globe revere it. Beauty editors live by its tenets every day. For some, it has become something of a beauty religion.

Biologique Recherche boasts locations in several countries all over the world, and has come to populate much of our very own Manhattan. Find their products in six locations on the Upper and Midtown east sides of the island. They’ve also sprinkled products in spas, studios, and stores even further downtown.

With a clinical approach to skincare using 50% or more active ingredients, Biologique Recherche is truly a unique and rare luxury skincare line without the frills.

Danuta Mieloch, founder of  Rescue Spa, is proud to be a US Brand Ambassador. “Biologique Recherche is a Rescue Spa cult classic and the cornerstone of our skincare treatments,” she shared. “This French biological skincare line has over 30 years of experience in developing the most powerful and effective skincare products in the beauty industry. With a clinical approach to skincare using 50% or more active ingredients, Biologique Recherche is truly a unique and rare luxury skincare line without the frills.”

The company has created hundreds of different products for face and body, and their P50 tonic is their signature potion. This exfoliating toner neutralizes the PH in your skin, hydrates your face, opens your pores and nourishes your skin with magical ingredients like witch hazel, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory plants. Find it in any of the nine locations throughout Manhattan.

Wherever you are in the city, Biologique Recherche is not far away. With such powerful products, “religious” use of them may lead to daily miracles. Or, at least, a luminous, glowing complexion – the answer to all of our prayers.
