BWB: What should we know about our skin and how to look after it?
Your skin is similar to a house with a brittle roof; in order to protect it, you cover it with a tarpaulin – a moisturizer. Be cautious when doing peelings and scrubs at home – they make the skin more susceptible to dark spots and rosacea, and lead to early aging of the skin. The “healthy glow” post-exfoliation is misleading.
Scrubbing the skin removes 3 layers each time; a single layer needs 48 hours to be recreated, therefore almost a week for 3 layers!
BWB: Why is that?
A fair skin is made up of 12 layers of epidermis – 8 around the eyes. Scrubbing the skin removes 3 layers each time; a single layer needs 48 hours to be recreated, therefore almost a week for 3 layers!
BWB: What would you advise?
I would recommend cleansing the skin thoroughly before going to bed. Use a moisturizing mask once a week (but a clay-less one). Adding an air humidifier in your room also helps keeping your skin hydrated throughout the night.
