As an avid TikTok user, I encounter plenty of Gen Z users on the app. Many of them use eyeliner or mascara brushes to flick faux freckles onto their cheeks. In fact, some even tattoo freckles onto their skin with henna. While currently a hot trend, the freckle frenzy actually started in 2015 when Remi launched Freck Yourself. The brand boasted 72 self-adhesive stencils and an ink-filled rollerballfor creating fake freckles. While the brand found fans in beauty mags like Cosmo and Essence, Jimmy Kimmel infamously poked fun at the brand on late night TV. Like the true boss woman she is, Remi brushed off her shoulders and tried again. A couple years later, she launched one of the freshest beauty brands we’ve encountered in 2020: Freck Beauty.
