Glow Getters
Whether you’re on holiday in the Bahamas or attending a glamorous soirée, here are the top-to-toe glow enhancing tips and tricks to try.
The Hair
The Prep:
Craig Taylor, Creative Director of renown Hari’s Hairdressers, explained this season’s trends: “This Autumn/Winter the catwalks were all about embracing everyone’s own hair texture and pairing it with statement accessories.”
Drawing inspiration from a couple of fashion shows, he describes his favorite look: “Something that is achievable from home and great for the party season is a hybrid from a couple of shows – the first is from Bottega Veneta where they had the front of the hair parted on the side and fixed into a low pony or half-up do. The second part – and the accessory du jour – is the black velvet ribbon seen at Temperley’s show. Tied in a bow around the elastic of the ponytail, it adds instant polish, and an element of femininity.”
The Finish:
To get the look, Craig suggests following these 3 simple steps:
1. Spray rough-dried hair with a holding product like Color Wow’s Style On Steroids – an amazing all-in-one texturizer and finishing spray. Blow-dry, diffuse, or leave the hair to dry naturally.
2. Part hair to one side and secure using one or two hairgrips. Ponytails should be secured at the nape of the neck.
3. Finish with a light spray of L’Oréal Elnett Supreme Hairspray before using 15-20 inches of velvet ribbon, available from any good haberdashers.
The Body
The Prep:
Having built a cult following with their lymph-boosting cream and skin-smoothing scrub, Legology’s new Cellu-Lite Oil tackles cellulite head-on: the heavenly scented body oil contains a mix of potent essential oils that fight water retention. The oil can be applied directly to target areas using a specific massage technique, dropped in the bath to help de-puff the entire body, or applied to Legology’s body brush for an added glow-inducing exfoliation.
The Finish:
Smooth, glossy legs are the perfect complement to this season’s calve-skimming party wear.
Bastien Gonzalez is the king of pedicures and all things foot-related. Famous worldwide for his glamorous and unique approach to foot treatments, he knows a trick or two about ensuring legs and feet look their best. His latest product is a nourishing dry oil that contains skin-boosting sesame and cotton oils as well as tiny particles of mother of pearl. The result is a product that banishes any areas of dryness and leaves legs with a healthy, subtle gloss.
The Makeup
The Prep:
For any big event, a primer is a must-have to ensure make-up stays put. And in the midst of winter, the skin often needs smoothing in some areas and hydrating in others. Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer Oil is a game-changing, fast-absorbing formula that gives skin an instant radiant, dewy finish and nourishes any patches of dryness for incredibly flawless make-up application.
The Finish:
Quite possibly the prettiest palette of the season, Nars’ Man Ray Overexposed Glow Highlighter in Double Take is a universally flattering pink champagne-hued powder that adds a candlelit luminosity to the skin. For the collar and cheekbones, sweep over target areas using a large powder brush. Then, dot on with a damp brush to add extra definition to the inner eye, beneath the brow bone, and along the bridge of the nose and the cupids bow.
