Erika Bloom is heading east this summer

BWB got together with the Pilates pro to get the low down on her studio in the Hamptons and what she’s bringing in her suitcase on vacation this season.

BWB got together with Pilates pro Erika Bloom, to get the low down on her studio in the Hamptons, must have products for summer, and what she’s bringing in her suitcase on vacation this season. With her passion for wellness and her knowledge on healthy habits, Erika is one to watch this summer!

BWB: The Hamptons Studio is open all Summer, are you doing any special classes at this time of the year?

Yes! We’ll have signature Pilates mat class at Lululemon in East Hampton every week. It will be taught by our Erika Bloom Method instructors and sometimes I’ll pop in and do a special master class.
We have also partnered with The Baker House 1650 in East Hampton and Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk this season for weekly mat Pilates classes as well!
I’ll also be doing an amazing event with Treehouse Retreats that includes a lecture, a class, and a lunch.

BWB: What are some of your favorite places in the Hamptons…
…for healthy lunch:

For lunch while I’m working I’ll often go to Mary’s Marvelous for a Kombucha and a vegetable salad. My favorite though is to go to Green Thumb or EEOC farm stand and get inspired by the amazing produce.

Other not-to-miss activities are paddle-boarding in beautiful Gardiner’s Bay and strolling through Longhouse Reserve.

BWB: What are your favorite activities there?

For me the Hamptons is about being outdoors. I love to do the cliché long walk on the beach. I have a bay beach at the end of my street that is so beautiful and I can take a long morning walk and soak in the stunning scenery. Ocean swims and body surfing with the family are a multi-week activity for us.

BWB: Any tips and wellness advice for our readers?

Embrace the farm stands that have local, organic produce. You have to seek them out and ask questions but it’s important that we nourish ourselves in this way and also that we support farmers that are growing varied crops with organic methods.
Choose exercise that is balancing and healthy for your body, like Pilates, and supplement it with natural movement outdoors.
The philosophy is that the food and exercise nourish you, rather than it being a guilt and punish cycle. Have fun while you’re doing it! We should choose things that bring us joy and truly make us feel better.

I forego nail polish in the summer and just get manicures with a clear coat of Kure Bazaar eco-friendly nail polish.

BWB: What is your beauty routine like in the Summer? Any brand you have recently discovered and love?

My beauty routine is always two things: simple and natural.
I love Bright Earth Foods cold-pressed Coconut Oil. I use it as a body moisturizer and as a lip shine.
I forego nail polish in the summer and just get manicures with a clear coat of Kure Bazaar eco-friendly nail polish. Then I keep my cuticles soft with the Bright Earth coconut oil. That way I can garden, dig in the sand, and swim in the ocean without any concern for ruining my manicure.
For my face I use LaVanila all natural sunscreen. It’s free of chemical block and is filled with skin nourishing ingredients.

Then I might use a touch of RMS Un-Cover Up and Tata Harper’s Lip and Cheek Tint in Very Sweet on my eyelids, cheeks, and lips.
I tint my lashes with a natural vegetable dye so I can be in and out of the ocean without mascara.
Tata Harper’s always been my go to brand for face and I use her cleansers and serums but she also recently came out with an amazing new body scrub that I’ll definitely be adding to my routine this summer.

BWB: What will you bring in your suitcase…

…Summer books:
I’m a voracious reader and in the summer I’m so happy that I have a little extra time and get to read a book or two a week. I alternate between fiction and medical or biomechanics journals and textbooks. In my field there’s always more to learn and I think it’s imperative that trainers be thoroughly educated.

…Your 3 go-to beauty products:
I always have Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser, Rejuvenating Serum, and Lip Treatment.

For the beach:
An Eres bikini, a Natalie Martin beach cover up, a great straw hat, a Fouta towel.
I have one of Cynthia Rowley’s amazing artistic wet suits so I can swim right at the start of the summer season before the water gets warm.

…For being active:
Alo leggings, LNA tanks and Adidas by Stella McCartney tennis shoes.
