Re-Post from Business o Feminin.
Clémence Von Mueffling launched her online magazine Beauty and Well Being in May 2014 having earned her stripes working for brands such as Clarins, Dior and Puig. She turned into beauty journalism following her mother and grandmother who were both Beauty Editors for French Vogue. For Clémence, BWB is a way to share her best beauty discoveries with women who want to lead a healthier life and feel beautiful in one click.
She talks to Business O Féminin about the latest trends in the world of beauty and wellbeing and shares her favourite New-York tips and addresses.
What are the latest trends in wellbeing in NY?
Healthy meal deliveries at home or at your office. ‘Sakara Life’ is an organic meal delivery service and is one of the big successes of 2014.
Meditation. More and more people are aware that they have to disconnect from their very stressful life. ’Mindfulness’ is the one that I am interested in and there are loads of places in NY where you can learn and practice.
Kale. You can now find kale salads, kale chips etc everywhere in NY! From the smallest health stores to the best and most expensive restaurants in the city!
What is going to be the most iconic, “must-have” beauty product this autumn?
The latest product from REN is launching this September. It’s called the “1 min Facial”. Based on Vitamin C, the product clears the skin and gives it a quick powerful boost. I tried it and loved it! Also, KURE BAZAAR eco-trendy nail polish. They are launching a new ‘Jeans Collection’ – j’adore!
What is going to be the fitness fad this autumn?
Dance Cardio classes are really amazing! I’m also hoping to see the development in the UK and the US of the ‘Vital Dome’, which is big in France. It is a space where you get infrared waves passed over your body to create intense heat. It’s totally danger free and studies have shown that infrared heat is the most beneficial to help cleansing the body from harmful toxins.
What kind of nutritional guidelines do you follow?
No sodas. No prepacked food. No dairy, except from a good French cheese from time to time! I also eat very little meat. I am what author of ‘The Omnivore’s Dilemma’, Michael Pollan, calls a ‘flexitarian’. I cook a lot; fast and easy recipes. It doesn’t take much time and is so much healthier than ready-made food! I recently even started to bake some of my kid’s snacks or our breakfast granola to lower our intake of sugar.
What is your daily beauty routine?
In the morning, I apply a soft lotion like Filorga or Joelle Ciocco, followed by a moisturiser with SPF such asErborian CC Cream. In the evening I always take a few minutes to cleanse my face and neck. These days, I love the makeup remover by REN as well as the ‘daily microfoliant’ by Dermalogica. Then, depending on the ‘mood’ of my skin, I moisturise with a night cream or dry skin oil, such as By Terry Rose Oil or I simply use a spritz of thermal water.
When you travel, what must you have in your cosmetic bag?
Travel size wipes to clean my face and a moisturizer. A hand sanitizer, hand cream and nail file. A pair of earplugs. My own tea – Kusmi Detox Tea or a decaf tea like “roiboos red tea’.
For long flights, I also bring my own snacks.
What’s your best anti-jetlag trick?
I never drink any alcohol, especially on short business trips. I try to eat more healthily by replacing coffee with green tea, have some dark chocolate instead of a heavy desert.
