Interview

with Teresa Moore

Exclusive tête-à-tête with the Elite New York model.

How does an Elite New York model who has worked for brands including Rolex, Ralph Lauren, L’Oreal and Neutrogena stay in shape and fight off stress? We had a tête-à-tête with Teresa Moore (who’s also a fashion and food blogger) to find out. Take note.

What is your morning routine?
I run three to four miles or take a fun cardio class at Equinox. Make a Nutribullet green juice made of spinach, apple, berries. Take a shower, put on antioxidant serum and moisturizer. BOOM.

What are your five go-to products?
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum,
Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream,
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser,
Cerave Moisturizing Lotion with SPF
and toothpaste!

Is there one product you cannot live without?
Redken Anti-Snap Leave-in Conditioner.

Do you have any tips for fighting stress?
Meditation breathing at Art of Living Center—they teach you how to meditate and use breathing techniques to calm down emotions and settle your mind. Once you learn the techniques you can do a 20-30 minute self-practice meditation whenever and wherever you like.
Run three to four miles, four or five times a week.
IntenSati workout class.
Ujai breathe.
A nice glass of red wine in the evening.

What is your beauty mantra?
Eat well, drink lots of water, and sleep at least seven hours a night.
Make choices that will make you happy long-term.

What do you do to stay in shape during the holidays?
I try and not eat too many carbs.
You can taste a variety of things but don’t overdo the portions.
Go for a good run in the morning and then a walk after a big meal.

Do you have a favorite workout class?
Tribal Dance Class—it’s great cardio, makes you feel like a warrior and is something between Capoeira and Balinese Dance.

Do you have a favorite healthy food place in New York City?
Souen for macrobiotic, Westville for a large selection of vegetable plates made with love. ABC Kitchen for an upscale dinner.

Do you have any favorite stores you like to shop for the holidays?
Lee’s Art Shop: great gifts and crafting.
Century 21: designer discount is great for gifts especially for friends and family overseas.
Bloomingdales: an all-in-one department store shopping.
Sephora: fun Christmas makeup packs

What’s on your holiday wish list?
A new Mac Laptop (fingers crossed).
A trip to Costa Rica.

Do you make any changes to your makeup for the holidays?
A nice red lip is festive, either with a good MAC red lip liner or a soft stain with Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments in Berry.

Do you have any favorite seasonal products?
Since the air is so dry because of heating, I love Shikai Gardenia Body Lotion, which is rich with Shea Butter.
Also, in the winter, bolder perfumes like Thierry Mugler Angel or Tom Ford Black Orchid are especially sexy.

Any special restaurants you like to go in NYC during the winter?
Soho House for weekend brunch.
Tamarind for the best Indian cuisine.
Do Hwa for Spicy Korean Food.
Gramercy Tavern for the beautiful fall displays and exquisite modern-American cooking.
Rolfs for the silly lights and dive-bar German fare.

Any sights you find magical during the holidays?
Central Park in the snow and the Boathouse Cafe for a cozy lunch.
Little Italy has extra charm during this time of year.
The Standard Meatpacking has fun art and ice-skating and a street market outside.
The windows of stores uptown on 5th and Madison Avenue can compare to modern art in museums during the holidays.

How do you stay warm?
BIG COATS, velvet or leather pants and great boots.

What are your favorite winter activities?
We always take a trip over the Christmas/New Years holidays far away to somewhere warm in Asia, New Zealand (my home country) or South America.
Two weeks of being a hippy beach bum is the perfect way to end and start the year.
