Healthy Natural Remedies my natural pharmacopoeia for the summer.

Natural ingredients from your kitchen to use as remedies this summer by Marie-Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre.

Is your suitcase packed for the summer holidays?
Don’t forget to include some essentials that will allow you to spend a natural and healthy summer.

Here are the essentials you can find in any pharmacy for the summer; they are easy to find, effective and cheap:

St-John’s-Wort Vegetal Oil for common burns and sunburns

Sulfur Selenium Trace Elements (as a cure) to prevent mosquito bites and sun allergies.
Method: 8 days prior to departure or before mosquito season, take a dose in the morning and in the evening and keep taking this dosage for the duration of the stay.
Anti-mosquito hint: in addition to this treatment, you can add Vitamin B (pills), easy to find in pharmacies. This will distill a faint scent, imperceptible to us but acting as a repellent for the mosquitoes.

Thyme (infusion) to protect from infections and mycoses.
Hint: Thyme is very helpful when you are recovering from an illness or if you are feeling tired.

Chips of Sapwood of lime-tree to stay in shape and stroll around proudly in your bikini!
Method: Brew. Works like a detox cure since it softly cleanses (liver, skin and kidneys).
Pour cold water onto the plant (two chips), boil and let simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.
Let infuse for 10 minutes, filter and drink all day long.

Electrolytes Oral Rehydration Solutions to rehydrate after sun exposure or for hikers and cyclists.

Evening Primrose or Borage Oil in capsules (1 to 2 times a day) for a healthy skin.

Daisy Oil is a dry oil, well suited for use on the body after taking a shower.

Monoï Oil to apply on your hair after sun exposure.

Lavender Essential Oil for motion sickness.
Method: Rub a drop of lavender essential oil behind the ears.

In order to avoid catching viruses or ear, nose and throat infections when you are traveling by train, plane or anywhere with air conditioning, you may ask your pharmacist to prepare a combination of essential oils: Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, Lavender and Savory. You can find them, already combined in individual packs, easy to carry around and use during your trip (Resistim from Motima Laboratory).

HINT FOR A GOOD START :
Drink warm lemon-infused water (bio) every morning for a few days prior to departure. This will help you fight the stress of departure, will keep you in great shape and spirits for the entire journey, and will help avoid the heavy-leg feeling as well as the rhinitis often triggered by A.C. environments while traveling.
