Jasmyn Wilkins Dribbles from Pageant Stages to Editorial Pages

Former Miss Georgia USA and 2018 Sports Illustrated Rookie shares the best pearls of wisdom she’s picked up along her career, in beauty and in life.

Descending from a long line of professional athletes, it’s no wonder Jasmyn Wilkins’ modeling career has taken off. Determination and dedication runs through her veins. Instead of the NBA, it’s a portfolio of names like Nike, Maybelline and Savage x Fenty. Wilkins’ latest score was earning the esteemed title of Sports Illustrated Rookie of the Year, and it’ll hardly be her last.

Now, having solidified her role as a person of influence, Wilkins is using her voice and platform to spread awareness about issues that are important to her, ranging from racial injustices to organ donation. Be sure to keep up with Wilkins on her Instagram, but for now, join us for a virtual coffee with the Southern beauty as we sip on beauty, wellness, and life lessons.

YOUR BEAUTY

A product that is always in your handbag…

I always keep chapstick and hand cream in my bag.

Your signature scent…

Another 13 by Le Labo and Angel by Thierry Mugler on special occasions.

Your beauty icon…

Zoë Kravitz.

Your skincare savior…

Raw shea butter.

Your favorite beauty trend, past or present…

Brown liner and a nude lip – very 90s.

YOUR LIFESTYLE

How you take your coffee in the morning…

I don’t drink much coffee, but I do love green tea with a splash of pure ginger juice and honey!

How you stay active…

Going on hikes and walks – low key.

Your guilty pleasure…

Ben & Jerry’s “Phish Food” ice cream. Honestly, nothing compares!

Your wellness regimen…

I start my day with a cup of tea, a hearty breakfast and my personalized supplements from Care/of. If I’m on the road, I listen to educational podcasts during my trip and my daily devotionals to get my mind right.

When I’m winding down at night, I have another tea with honey and lavender. I’ll also do my full skincare routine, including double-cleansing, toning, serum and a thick moisturizer. I try to get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep (sometimes I’m not so lucky!).

YOUR CAREER

Best advice you’ve ever received…

You can’t control others’ actions, but you can control your reaction to them.

Where you see yourself in 5-10 years…

In 5-10 years, I see myself becoming a spokeswoman for a beauty brand… I also see myself starting a charitable organization and having a child or two (or three… Or four…).

What you would say to your younger self…

Be afraid and do it anyway.

How you see the place of women in society today…

I think women in today’s society are breaking down barriers and excelling in careers and positions that were traditionally only reserved for men. We are making our voices heard, challenging the patriarchy, and doing it all in style!
